Fr. Mary Clement Suhy, O.S.B.

My mom and dad were so generous in their response to the gift of life! I am the third child of seven and thank our Lord for the grace of growing up in a Catholic family where one learned how to love and forgive as God does.
After attending public school through the 8th grade, I then attended Detroit Catholic Central for High School. I’ll never forget my freshmen year Catholic Faith teacher, Fr. Ned Donoher. He loved our Lord and our Lord’s people very much and it was through him that I received the inspiration to strive for the priesthood.
While at Magdalen College in Warner, NH, I was blessed to meet the founder of our monastery, Fr. Cassian, O.S.B. He belonged totally to our Lord and he lived this out by a beautiful rhythm of work and prayer. Upon graduating from Magdalen, I attended the first summer discernment program of the new monastery and heard the call to love and serve our Lord as a Benedictine monk.
I was sent to Rome for my theological studies at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. Many years later, I continue to thank and praise our Lord for the excellent and sound theological formation and foundation that I received through the Holy Cross.
Through the years, I have drawn much insight and wisdom from the writings of Saint Benedict and Saint John Cassian.
